Back Pain and Ice Packs

OrthopaedicsAndTrauma.com asked Dominic Cheetham about the importance of Ice Packs for Back pain. Dominic is a top Chiropractor in fashionable Knightsbridge in London. He has been featured in the Sunday Telegraph with how to cope with backache. His Chiropractic Practice is at Wilbraham Place in London.

Dominic said: "People know that, if they turn their ankle or sprain their knee, they should cool it. The old adage RICE means Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation. For some reason when they injure the ligaments and joints of their back they instinctively apply heat. They'll take an anti-inflammatory to calm the inflammation, then put on a heat pack. In the acute stage of backache, within the first 48 hours, always use ice packs for back ache.

He said that physios "in the know" also use this Cryo/Cuff unit for the hip injury and after rib fractures.
