The DonJoy® Back Brace II TLSO accommodates the appropriate motion restriction throughout the healing process. The lightweight design includes a patented Mechanical Advantage Pulley System, a quick-release shoulder strap buckle, and an easy to use thoracic adjustment. All these features allow for the patient to control and relieve acute pain often associated with anomalies of the spine such as osteoporosis, compression fractures, spinal stenosis, strain, and excessive kyphosis.

OrthopaedicsAndTrauma.com asked John Hardy for his advice on Coccydynia and MAternity Belts like this. John is an international expert on the management of coccydynia working at the Private Coccyx Clinic Chelsea where they care for chronic coccydynia. John said that women often feel pressure on the coccyx that has previously been injured when the baby's head engages. He said that a previously dislocated coccyx from trauma is the worst as it narrows the birth canal if it is immobile. John said that the marernity belt is great for women with Symphysis pubis dysfunction (SPD). He said this was a group of symptoms that cause discomfort in the pelvic region. It usually occurs during or after pregnancy, when your pelvic joints become hypermobile becaues of the relaxin released around term. It can occur both at the front and back of your pelvis. SPD is also sometimes referred to as pelvic girdle pain. The belt does not help wit the prevention or cure of coccydynia.

TENS is a method of pain relief based on a discovery by neurologists Ronald Melzack and Pat Wall from UCL, London and their gate control theory of pain. They showed that the nerve signals in the skin had "precedence" over other nerve signals from the same area when they reached the spinal cord. In practice, this meant that signals from the superficial nerves could prevent other pain signals from reaching the brain.

From this discovery, the TENS stimulator was born. It is an apparatus that sends electrical impulses through electrodes on the skin near the painful area. The pulses stimulate the superficial nerves and cause them to send a constant signal. This signal thus blocks other pain signals from the area and prevents them from reaching the brain.

TENS has been used in the health care system for pregnancy and childbirth pain since the 1970s, but has, with good results, also treated, for example, menstrual pain, sciatica, angina and post-operative pain.
